A Message from President Lorraine Grant

In the 1990s a group of Prince George individuals believed that our community should receive the benefits of a community foundation. In 1995 their vision became a reality and the Prince George Community Foundation was formed. From that vision, the mission statement:

"We provide the opportunity to make a lasting charitable donation to enhance our community – forever"

The benefits to the City from the Community Foundation were evident from the start - giving something back by:

    Creating a permanent fund
    Assessing and responding to changing community needs
    Encouraging philanthropy

This is still evident today as we continue to provide a vehicle for the generosity of community-minded individuals in Prince George and surrounding area who want to contribute to life around them and whose vision for the community extends beyond their lifetime. It offers a unique opportunity to support the community and to share in shaping its' future by pooling and investing the charitable gifts of the donors.

This generosity and commitment of our donors over the past 16 years has provided over $690,000 in grants being returned to the community through the charitable sector of our community who are involved in the interest fields of arts and culture, education, environment, health, social services and sports and recreation. These grants are the result of investing in endowment funds where only the investment income is distributed.
