Established by Shawn and Lisa Rice, the Rice Family Endowment Fund is supported by Shawn’s Chocolate Treats, a local initiative offering a variety of handcrafted chocolates. All profits from Shawn’s Chocolate Treat sales are donated to the Rice Family Endowment Fund. Beginning in 2026, the fund will award a yearly grant to the Prince George Council of Seniors to purchase therapy dolls and cats for seniors living with dementia.
Inspired by the joy and comfort these therapy companions brought to Lisa’s mother, the Rices are committed to ensuring other seniors experience the same sense of happiness and relaxation. Their long-term goal is for the fund to grow large enough to provide five to six therapy dolls or cats each year in perpetuity, with grants distributed from the interest earned.
