Prince George, B.C. – On BC Day, the Province honoured eighteen outstanding British Columbians with the prestigious Medal of Good Citizenship—and two of them are from Prince George. Longtime local champions Ted Price and Anne Laughlin were recognized for their exceptional service and unwavering dedication to the community, most notably through Miracle Theatre, which has enriched local culture and sparked extraordinary charitable giving.

Premier David Eby said, “This year’s honourees exemplify what it means to be a good citizen by selflessly stepping up to help their fellow British Columbians with kindness, compassion and commitment.”

No strangers to the spotlight, Ted Price and Anne Laughlin have redefined community giving through their visionary leadership with Miracle Theatre. Since launching the initiative in 2015, they have produced annual plays—each powered by 30-60 volunteers—with 100% of proceeds donated to local charities.

Their efforts have raised more than $1.06 million for causes including healthcare, hospice care, child development, wildfire preparedness and refugee support. But these productions are more than just performances—they’re community-building events. Ted and Anne manage every aspect, from volunteer recruitment to producing and directing each show.

Their attention to detail and ability to inspire have created a thriving network of supporters and a legacy of generosity. Beyond the stage, they mentor newcomers to theatre, support established and emerging theatre artists, and advise nonprofits with their expertise.

Laughlin and Price’s nomination was supported by community leaders Shirley Bond and Noreen Rustad. Bond shared that “Anne and Ted exemplify the spirit of citizenship through their creativity, generosity, and leadership. Their extraordinary contributions have not only strengthened the arts but have brought lasting benefits to those in need.” Rustad added that “I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this award than these two individuals.”

Rae-Ann Noonan, Executive Director of the Prince George Community Foundation, added her congratulations for Laughlin and Price on this well-deserved recognition: “Anne and Ted are truly two of the most generous, community-minded people I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. Through Miracle Theatre, they’ve turned their passion for professional theatre into something extraordinary — raising over $1 million for local causes, all while building a culture of kindness, collaboration, and hope. Their productions do far more than entertain — they change lives.”

Whether raising $180,000 for a Wildfire Protection Unit or $209,000 to establish a Seniors’ Emergency Fund, their work is timely, thoughtful and transformative, making them pillars of both the arts and community service in Prince George.

The Medal of Good Citizenship was established in 2015 and is the second-highest honour the province can bestow on a citizen, after the Order of British Columbia. Medal presentation ceremonies will be held in late fall 2025.
