In partnership with the Prince George Council of Seniors, The Seniors Emergency Pilot Program (SEPP) is designed provide financial support to seniors in Prince George facing urgent and unexpected financial hardship.

IMPORTANT PROGRAM UPDATE - July 16, 2026

The PGCF has temporarily paused applications to the Seniors Emergency Pilot Program (SEPP) while we review the program and explore opportunities for future enhancements.

We are grateful for the strong community interest and support the program has received and are evaluating how we can best continue to meet the emergency needs of seniors in our community. We anticipate sharing an update in the fall regarding the future of the program.

APPLICATION CRITERIA

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:

• Be 55 years or older.
• Reside in Prince George or the immediately surrounding area.
• Face an urgent unexpected expense or need for an essential item.
• Lack immediate financial resources to cover the expense.
• Be at risk of harm to their physical or mental health and safety, or the physical or mental health and safety of other persons or pets who reside with them, if the expense is not met.

APPLICATIONS TEMPORARILY PAUSED

NOTE: Seniors may be assisted in completing their application by another individual.

Eligible Requests

Urgent unexpected expenses or essential items may include, but are not limited to:

Housing/Utility costs related to sudden changes in living or income situations. Possible examples: 

• • A roommate moves out with no warning and the individual is held responsible for the full rent.
  • An unusually high heating/air conditioning bill due to extreme weather.

Medical/Dental Emergencies as well as related prescriptions, supplies, or equipment. 

Essential Home/Vehicle Repairs such as:

• • A broken furnace in winter.
  • A necessary car repair to attend medical appointments.

Unexpected losses due to accident, fire, theft or other unforeseen circumstances. Possible examples: 

• • A bedbug infestation requiring the purchase of a new mattress.
  • A power outage causes food spoilage, requiring replacement.

Pet Care such as urgent veterinary bills for a companion animal.

Any other expense or need, the neglect of which which would pose an immediate risk to the physical or mental health and safety of the individual or other persons who live with them.

Limitations

SEPP funding is not intended to support an ongoing situation.

Preference will be given to those who have not received SEPP funding in the past six months. 

Not every application can be approved. Funding is limited and provided by an individual, anonymous donor.
